Lakewood — due to the ongoing “budget crisis”, township officials are reportedly ending the currently “free” municipal trash pickup for yeshivas and shuls, which would require them to arrange and pay for private trash collection.
They are also most likely going to reduce the number of crossing guards.🤯
CBN — Want to know why we have no money?!
Why should municipal taxpayer dollars be used to pick up the garbage from individual schools and shuls??
If a school or shul needs trash pickup, why shouldn’t it pay for its own service? Especially when a significant percentage of the students attending these schools are coming from surrounding towns like Jackson and Toms River.
We need to prioritize where our limited tax dollars are going. If something is truly a municipal necessity, fund it. But if it’s a service being provided to a private institution, let the institution pay for it. YES we lost big chunk of state money but stop relying on the #Shver!!!
You can’t run a city this large “yeshivish”!
The same goes for security…. If you need it then pay for it !! My business needs security, and I pay for it myself!!
Once the township stops providing these services, the schools will have to absorb the new costs, and they will pass those costs on to parents through higher tuition.
And we all know where THAT is going to end…
