Real Estate Developer Charged in Dual Schemes: Bribing Newark Officials and Selling Fake DHS-Style IDs🤬
A 31-year-old New York real estate developer has been federally charged in two separate criminal schemes: one involving the bribery of Newark city employees and another centered on selling counterfeit law enforcement identification cards bearing fake U.S. Department of Homeland Security insignia.
A Yid from Airmont, New York, faces multiple conspiracy charges announced Thursday by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey. The charges include honest services fraud, bribery involving a federally funded local government, and selling false seals and official insignia.
Bribery Scheme: Between June and November 2024, prosecutors say he paid cash bribes to Newark city workers. In return, the employees allegedly fast-tracked permits and issued certificates of occupancy for his properties, while also helping resolve code violations outside normal procedures. Certificates of occupancy are required before buildings can be legally occupied or sold.
Fake ID Scheme: Separately, from October 2021 to January 2023, he allegedly conspired with others including former U.S. Air Marshal Jonathan Ledesma to produce and sell fraudulent “Law Enforcement Family Member” cards. The cards featured official-looking DHS seals and a QR code linked to Ledesma’s phone. The Yid reportedly earned about $30,000 from the sales.
He has been hit with four counts in total. If convicted, he faces significant prison time. The case remains active in U.S. District Court in New Jersey.
