A polling firm called Median Strategies has confessed that its recent survey claiming Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass held a commanding twelve point lead over Councilmember Nithya Raman was completely fabricated.
The company said the bogus numbers were created as a deliberate social experiment to test how quickly and widely unverified polling data could spread through news outlets and political circles without any independent checks.
The same firm also put out a phony Wisconsin survey that showed socialist candidate Francesca Hong leading her Democratic gubernatorial primary by twenty points even though she later lost the race.
Officials at Median Strategies confirmed the entire operation was bogus and that they never conducted real surveys.
