Private Fund Distributes Over 500 Million Shekels to Yeshivos and Kollelim to Offset State Funding Cuts💪
A newly disclosed 60-page document reveals that the Keren Olam HaTorah fund raised and distributed over 500 million shekels to approximately 1,450 institutions. The allocations serve as a replacement for state funding that was halted due to sanctions against draft refusers.
The internal document, originally reported by Mordechai Halperin on Army Radio, tracks allocations from the fund’s establishment in July 2024 through December 2025.
The Mir Yeshiva topped the list of recipients, receiving 18,817,022 shekels, followed closely by Ponevezh at 13,222,478 shekels and Ateres Shlomo at 13,091,545 shekels.
Other major allocations included Siach Yitzchak with 9,105,876 shekels, Chevron with 7,384,974 shekels, and Wolfson with 6,039,937 shekels.
Rounding out the top ten were Kol Rina (Kollelim Network) with 4,930,605 shekels, Tifrach with 4,908,370 shekels, Belz Institutions with 4,686,064 shekels, and Beis Matisyahu with 3,696,700 shekels.
Estimates indicate an additional 200 million shekels has since been distributed as philanthropists continue working to sustain the yeshiva system independently.
A major donor conference is scheduled to take place later at the Setai Hotel in Teveria to review the metrics and discuss the long-term sustainability of relying solely on private philanthropy.
