Trump Emergency Appeal Asks Supreme Court to Overturn Halt on White House Ballroom Construction

The Trump administration filed an emergency application asking the Supreme Court to overturn a federal appeals court ruling that halted above-ground construction on the planned $400 million White House ballroom complex.

The appeal follows a decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, which held that the administration lacked legal authority to proceed with the massive project on the White House grounds without explicit approval and oversight from Congress, referring to the president as a “temporary tenant.”

In its emergency filing, the Justice Department urged the high court to intervene and lift the injunction, arguing that halting construction undermines national security because the complex includes underground security infrastructure and security enhancements.
