Operation Economic Fury: Hegseth and Bessent Launch “Maximum Pressure” Campaign Against Iranian Leadership
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has announced the launch of “Operation Economic Fury,” a coordinated government-wide campaign led by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to maximize financial pressure on the Iranian regime.
This new offensive specifically targets the illicit financial networks of the Iranian elite, including the multi-billion dollar oil empire of the Shamkhani family.
Hegseth emphasized that the Department of the Treasury is moving aggressively to cut off the regime’s remaining revenue streams, stating:
