WFAN took three calls today discussing the “dilemma” of Game 2 of the 2026 NBA Finals being on shabbos🙈

CBN – L’halacha, as one of the callers mentioned, it’s technically muttar to leave the TV on before shabbos. However, it’s really not pashut.

When we learn the posuk, “לעתות את השבת לדורותם,” this is exactly where we should apply it. If we want our children to love and cherish shabbos and pass it on to their children, we need to maintain the kedusha of it.

And, beyond leaving the TV on, even just talking about the game is divrei chulin. Shabbos is meant for so much more than talking about a game of basketball.
