Belzer Rebbe Shlit”a and HaGaon HaRav Avrohom Yehoshua Soloveitchik Shlit”a Bentch Gomel
Thousands of Belzer chassidim and talmidim of Yeshivas Brisk marked an especially meaningful Shabbos, joining in as the Belzer Rebbe Shlit”a and and the Brisker rosh yeshiva, HaGaon HaRav Avrohom Yehoshua Soloveitchik Shlit”a, bentched Gomel after their respective recoveries from serious illnesses.
At the Belzer beis medrash on Shabbos morning, during Krias HaTorah, the Rebbe recited Hagomel exactly one year after he underwent surgery last Elul. The Belzer Rebbetzin also lit an extra candle before Shabbos, part of a new practice the Rebbe began recently.
A pidyon haben for the Rebbe’s great-grandson, the son of his grandson Rav Yisroel Menachem Nachum Rokeach, took place shortly before midnight Motzoei Shabbos.
Meanwhile, HaRav Soloveitchik Shlit”a spent Shabbos in his new apartment near to Yeshivas Brisk and took part in all the tefillos. During Krias HaTorah, after being called for Levi, he unexpectedly said the bracha of Hagomel, becoming overcome with emotion as he expressed hakaras hatov after his recovery from the severe medical ordeal that had left him critically ill.
Following davening, HaRav Avrohom Kagan, a senior mispallel at the yeshiva and rosh mesivta at Yeshivas Kaminetz, led the kehillah in a moving song of hakaras hatov. His father had davened with the Chazon Ish’s minyan and had the privilege of bringing joy to the Chazon Ish.
A bris for HaRav Soloveitchik’s grandson was held at his home Friday. The Boyaner Rebbe Shlit”a, who is related to the rosh yeshiva through a mechutan, attended and was honored with amidah labrachos.
