I’m not saying we should send our children to the gutter. But these are good kids—they’re just a little different.
I would pose this question: How bad, painful and weak is your Yiddishkeit that you’re afraid exposure to someone who is a little less observant than your child will derail them?
CBN– In the ’80s and ’90s, we didn’t have this issue. We all went on the same buses, and some of us went to the same yeshivos. Somehow, Klal Yisroel survived—and thrived.
All of a sudden, we have these “Aleph Yeshivas” in Lakewood, and some are running scared that their bochurim are going to go OTD if they’re exposed to someone who is a little different.
Just an observation.
As for kids from families where the parents don’t want to work with the system, or kids who are already in a school and parents simply want to move to another “better” one—I feel for them, but I’m not fighting that fight.
I’m fighting for the kids who are good kids, from good families, and simply cannot get a slot.
I know the Lakewood system very well, and in my opinion, the core issue is that there are far too many schools with absolutely zero Daas Torah behind them. Yes there is a shortage of seats but with proper hadracha and money anything can get done.
Decisions are being made by someone who opened a school, raised millions of dollars from hundreds of parents, and now runs the school with an iron fist.
And if there is a Rav in town who actually has influence over these schools please give me his number because I have yet to find even one.
