Gerrer Rebbe Decides: Goldknopf to Continue as Ger’s Representative in the Next Knesset
MK Yitzchak Goldknopf, representative of the Ger Chassidus in the United Torah Judaism party, received the Rebbe’s bracha to carry on his role.
The newspaper Hamodia, which is affiliated with the Gerrer community, noted that Goldknopf has been “one of Agudas Yisrael’s prominent activists and administrators for many years.”
Reflecting on the previous term, Goldknopf stated, “The past term was difficult for the Charedi public and unlike anything remembered in the past, despite a fully right-wing government.” He added, “Talmidei Chachomim have been subjected to a most brutal campaign of persecution.”
Addressing his conduct throughout the term, he noted, “I acted all along out of absolute obedience to the instructions of our Rabbonim. I resigned immediately from my position in the government and coalition in accordance with their directive.”
Goldknopf continued, “We all mourn the situation and regret that this is what has come upon us in our time. We must learn the lessons from what happened.”
Looking toward the future, he concluded, “By working together with all representatives of United Torah Judaism, we will strive to make things right.”
