The National Weather Service forecasts heat index values of up to 100 degrees between noon and 8 p.m. Thursday. The advisory could be extended into Friday.

A Heat Advisory is issued when heat and humidity are expected to make it feel like 95 to 99 degrees for at least two straight days, or 100 to 104 degrees for any duration.

Seniors and people with chronic or mental health conditions face higher risk. Homes without air conditioning can become significantly hotter than outdoor temperatures.
