IDF prepares for days of combat as Hezbollah terrorists trapped underground – Channel 12
The IDF is preparing for the possibility of several days of combat in Lebanon after Hezbollah violated the ceasefire, Channel 12 reported Sunday.
The escalation comes as the IDF continues efforts to eliminate remaining Hezbollah infrastructure on the Ali al-Taher and Beaufort ridges in the Israeli security zone in southern Lebanon. Hezbollah is trying to prevent the operations, including by attacking Israeli forces.
According to the report, possibly dozens of Hezbollah terrorists are holed up underground on the Ali al-Taher Ridge, while the IDF has prevented the group from assisting them.
Israel has recently shown restraint in Lebanon to respect American-led negotiations with the Lebanese government, with the political echelon rejecting military proposals to respond to Hezbollah aggression.
However, after a Hezbollah drone attack on Shabbos severely wounded three IDF soldiers, the military responded with a large-scale wave of airstrikes.
One strike targeted a central headquarters of Hezbollah’s Radwan Force in the Ansar area, killing Ali Samir Al-Haj Hassan, a Radwan Force battalion commander, along with several other terrorists.
In another strike in Deir ez-Zahrania, the IDF killed Abu Hassan Alaa, a senior commander in Hezbollah’s “Badder Unit” who helped advance numerous attacks against IDF soldiers in the Security Zone, including explosive drone launches targeting troops in southern Lebanon.
