Resident Congressional Antisemite Ilhan Omar Wins Minnesota Democratic Primary🤬

NBC News has projected Rep. Ilhan Omar as the winner of Minnesota’s Democratic primary, securing another term in her heavily Democratic Minneapolis-area district. With 3.4% of votes counted, Omar led with 5,860 votes (76.3%), well ahead of Nate Schluter (662 votes, 8.6%) and Julie Le (587 votes, 7.6%). The district is rated Solidly Democratic, giving Omar a strong advantage heading into November.
Omar’s tenure in Congress has been marked by repeated controversies over remarks widely condemned as antisemitic. In 2019, she suggested that pro-Israel lawmakers’ support for Israel was “all about the Benjamins,” implying it was bought by AIPAC donations — a comment that drew bipartisan backlash and prompted her apology. She also faced criticism for suggesting that supporters of Israel held “allegiance to a foreign country,” language many said invoked the antisemitic dual-loyalty trope and led the House to pass a resolution condemning antisemitism, though it did not name her directly.
Omar has also faced sustained criticism over a 2019 remark describing the September 11 terror attacks as an incident in which “some people did something,” made while discussing the founding of CAIR. The remark drew widespread condemnation, including from President Trump, who shared a video pairing her words with footage of the World Trade Center attacks.
Omar has also faced a string of fraud-related allegations over the years. Most recently, Aimee Bock, the convicted mastermind behind Minnesota’s 250 million dollar Feeding Our Future COVID fraud scheme, claimed from prison that Omar knew about the scam, an allegation Omar has called flat out false. A GOP led Minnesota House committee separately accused her 2020 legislation of loosening federal rules in ways that allowed the fraud to grow, and noted she never responded to its invitation to testify.
Vice President JD Vance has said the Trump administration is investigating Omar over both immigration fraud and her family’s finances, after a financial disclosure discrepancy briefly listed her and her husband’s assets as high as 30 million dollars before being revised down to under 100,000 dollars. Omar has denied all wrongdoing, calling the fraud claims reprehensible while insisting she had no knowledge of the scheme, and has for years faced separate, unproven allegations dating back to 2016 that she married her brother to commit immigration fraud.
