Trump’s Ex-Wife Marla Maples Says He Carries Zohar Over His Heart — Credits Kabbalah Centre “Rabbi” For Her Own Practice
President Donald Trump’s ex-wife Marla Maples says Trump carries a copy of the Zohar with him, keeping it close to his heart for “protection and healing.”
In an interview with Channel 12 News, Maples offered a rare glimpse into Trump’s spiritual side while discussing her own longstanding connection to Kabbalah, Judaism and Israel.
“He carries with him the Book of Pinchas, the Book of Zohar, in Aramaic. He puts it over his heart, inside, for protection and healing,” Maples said.
Maples said Trump has a “very big heart” and would not be in his position if not for his desire to help others.
Maples, who was married to Trump as his presidential ambitions began taking shape, said she developed a deep spiritual connection to Kabbalah and visited Israel numerous times. As a Christian, she wanted to understand Israel and experienced everything from visiting the graves of righteous people and spending extended periods in Tzfas to water skiing on the Kinneret.
She said she has kept kosher for more than 20 years and has observed what she describes as Shabbos for many years after studying under a teacher at the for-profit Kabbalah Centre; a sham organization that claims to teach Kabalah to non-Jews. She added that Ivanka Trump’s conversion exposed the President extensively to Judaism.
Maples also recalled being kidnapped at gunpoint in Nigeria about 20 years ago. While armed men forced her and others to the ground, she recited the Shema, surrendered herself to G-d, and said the men then left. She said she recites Shema every morning.
She also condemned rising US antisemitism and expressed solidarity with Israel after October 7, calling antisemitism “heartbreaking” and saying she prays and sends light.
