Netanyahu Bypasses Cabinet Vote on Lebanon Ceasefire Following Trump Request
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed his ministers today that the 10-day ceasefire in Lebanon was accepted at the direct request of President Trump.
The announcement led to a tense cabinet meeting, as several ministers criticized the fact that they first learned of the truce through media reports rather than from the Prime Minister himself.
Netanyahu responded to the friction by emphasizing the necessity of coordinating with “Israel’s greatest friend.”
Despite calls from within the cabinet to bring the decision to a formal vote, the Prime Minister declined, moving forward with the ceasefire that begins tonight while ensuring the IDF remains stationed at strategic points throughout the period.
