Newark Airport Receives Latest Air Traffic Control Upgrades

Officials gathered at the airport for the installation of a new surface movement radar tower designed to improve air traffic controller visibility and safety during poor weather conditions and at night.
Nationwide, these infrastructure efforts include updating radar systems, surface awareness technology, analog radios, and tower flight strips.
Transportation officials emphasized that prioritizing U.S.-manufactured equipment for critical air traffic technology is helping boost domestic manufacturing and job growth.
Alongside technology upgrades, the FAA is accelerating workforce expansion, reporting the hiring of 2,000 new air traffic controllers. The ongoing modernization efforts aim to enhance safety and efficiency across the national airspace system over the coming years.
