NYPD Hunts Suspects in Queens Synagogue Attacks
The New York Police Department is actively seeking two unidentified suspects linked to vandalism attacks on a pair of synagogues in Queens that investigators are treating as possible hate crimes.
On the morning of July 16 2025 at approximately 11:44 a.m. the individuals approached the rear of the Young Israel of Jamaica Estates synagogue on 188th Street and threw bags filled with motor oil and feces before fleeing on foot toward a dark colored SUV.
A nearly identical incident occurred later the same night between 11 p.m. and 6:20 a.m. at the Young Israel of Holliswood synagogue on Francis Lewis Boulevard. Worshippers discovered the discarded materials outside the building the following morning.
The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force has released surveillance footage of the two suspects and is requesting assistance from the public to help identify and locate them.
No arrests have been made and authorities have not publicly stated any motive beyond the hate crime classification. New York State Assemblywoman Nily Rozic an Israeli American lawmaker representing parts of eastern Queens strongly condemned the attacks describing them as another outrageous example of the ongoing hate directed at the Jewish community.
