NYPD Shooting Sends 6 to Hospital After Man Charges Officer With Knife
Officers shot a man who charged at an NYPD officer with a knife on the Lower East Side around 4 p.m. Sunday on Ludlow Street, police sources said.
Officers responded after a 911 call reporting a person armed with a weapon. When they arrived, police sources said the man charged at an officer with a knife and was shot.
At least six people, including four members of service, were hospitalized after the incident. The FDNY said four members of service suffered minor injuries, while two others were transported in unknown condition following a reported assault.
The suspect was taken to the hospital in unknown condition and the knife was recovered from the scene.
Police have not provided further information on what led to the incident.
