Tornado Destroys Long Island Beach Club, Blakeman Says
Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman told FOX 5 NY’s Robert Moses that a tornado touched down on Long Island during a severe storm, causing significant destruction to local coastal spots like the Sun and Surf Beach Club.
Blakeman and local officials confirmed that the sudden twister ripped through the area, destroying or damaging roughly 50 cabanas with little to no warning.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene to clear heavy debris and inspect structures, though Inwood Fire Department Chief Josiyah Green noted that no one was trapped and stated, “Best I can call it is luck. Just by the grace of luck that a lot of people weren’t hurt here because this beach club is a very popular place during the summer”.
Authorities confirmed that only one employee sustained a very minor injury.
