Trump declines to rule out ground troops if Iran doesn’t make a deal
President Trump said in a brief phone interview with The Hill on Sunday that he is not ruling out ground troops in Iran if Tehran does not make a deal.
“No,” Trump told The Hill when asked if he would rule out sending ground troops to the country.
“Normal people would make a deal. Smart people would make a deal,” the president said. “If they were smart they would make a deal.”
Earlier Sunday, Trump said the U.S. would target Iran’s power plants and bridges on Tuesday if a deal is not reached and Iran does not open the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump told The Hill that no infrastructure targets would be off the table if the U.S. and Iran do not reach a deal.
In a separate interview with ABC News, President Trump said that the conflict would be over in days, not weeks, but if no deal is made, he’s blowing up the whole country with “very little” off the table.
