The revelation followed a phone interview where the prime minister told Channel 14 that Iran attempted to murder one of his sons. While he did not specify which son or share further operational details, US law enforcement sources indicated that Israeli intelligence uncovered the plot in December 2025, revealing that Iranian agents were actively conducting surveillance on the ground in the Miami area.
Following the discovery, Yair Netanyahu was ordered to leave Florida immediately. He returned to Israel without his personal belongings and has remained in the country since.
Yair had spent the previous several years living in South Miami, a stay that drew domestic scrutiny regarding state-funded security details and his absence from Israel following the October 7, 2023 outbreak of war. Defending the protective measures on Channel 14, the prime minister emphasized that without such security, would-be assassins would succeed.
