IDF dispatches infantry battalion to Judea and Samaria to deal with settler attacks on Palestinians
An IDF infantry battalion is being dispatched to Judea and Samaria to bolster troops dealing with provocations and attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir held an assessment today with senior officers over an ongoing incident in Qusra, where settlers have set up an outpost outside Palestinian homes, besieging them for days.
Zamir ordered efforts to strengthen order and operational control and prevent further serious incidents. A standing army infantry battalion, currently on a break between operational activity, will deploy to the Qusra area, while additional forces will be on standby as needed.
The IDF is working with police and the Shin Bet to restore order and “bring the rioters to justice.”
Zamir also ordered that all troops in Judea and Samaria receive clear guidance on rules of conduct and the use of force in such incidents.
