Justice Department Launches New Advisory Committee on Anti-Semitism
The U.S. Department of Justice has officially announced the formation of the Anti-Semitism Advisory Committee (ASAC). This new body is designed to provide expert recommendations to the Attorney General and DOJ leadership on effective strategies to combat the rising tide of antisemitism across the country.
The ASAC will be composed of a diverse group of citizen leaders and subject matter experts dedicated to developing innovative solutions for community safety. Led by Leo Terrell, chair of the DOJ Task Force to Combat Anti-Semitism, the committee will focus on coordinating timely responses to threats and supporting local communities. This move aligns with existing executive orders aimed at strengthening the federal government’s tools to confront antisemitic hate and harassment.
By establishing this committee, the Justice Department aims to foster a more proactive approach to civil rights enforcement. The committee’s work will include advising on policy, enhancing public safety, and ensuring that radical or violent extremists are held accountable.
